App: Awkward Looker

Title: Simply Awkward

Beta Idea: When initially opening the app, the user will see a static (non-moving) head and the eyes following the user around. Users should be able to take a single picture of themselves (or others) and recreate the same event with just the eyes moving around to follow the app user.

Technology: Basic facial recognition comes standard in modern smartphones. They provide the location for the bounding rectangle for the face and location of eyes and mouth. Using the coordinates for the eyes, first focus on removing the entire pupil from the image of the face so that only white remains. That was for the picture take by user. Now, show the pupils when a face is detected by the front-facing camera and position them in such a way that it looks like it is following the user.

Future Idea: Close eyes when no face is detected by front-facing camera. Possibly by user taking two photos. It could even be a picture with hand covering eyes instead.

Future Idea 2: Use camera as a pseudo-3D modeling camera.

Future Idea 3: Use this completed technology to be able to track where users are looking at in your other apps. Track how long users pay attention to ads. I realize that eye-tracking software already exists, but they aren't standard on smartphones yet.

Monetization: None; ads; $0.99 to remove ads;
